I made a small series involving using tangrams to create symmetry, asymmetry, with the use of three different proportions: Square (1:1), Root 2 Rectangle (1:1.414), and Golden Section (1:1.618). In addition to creating these designs with these specifications, I had to incorporate the use of color into each and at least one of them had to be done traditionally. In the Square proportion, I opted for a traditional approach using gouache paints and tape to create texture, transparency, and a warm color scheme. The Root 2 Rectangle has a monochrome theme with minimal overlapping transparency and the Golden Section uses complementary colors with moderate overlapping transparency.
